Frilford Heath Fungi List

  • Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)- Late autumn. Nice specimen near the fifth tee on the Red 
  • Yellow fieldcap (Bolbitious titubans) - Found at the back of the 2nd green on the Red
  • Shaggy Inkcap (Coprinus comatus) - Fairly common in early winter, including by the practice net and next to the path between the 5th and 6th on the Red
  • Snowy Waxcap (Cuphophyllus virgineus) - Common in grassy areas
  • Sulphur Tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare) - Common around tree stumps, particular around the 5th on the Red
  • Common puffball  (Lycoperdon perlatum) - Common over most of the course.  Always disappointing to find one on the fairway and realise that it's not your golf ball.
  • Parasol (Macrolepiota procera) - Common around the 5th and 1st on the Red
  • Slime mould (Mucilago crustacea) - Found an example growing on nettles on the footpath by the 5th on the Red
  • Birch Polypore (Piptoporus betulinus) - Common on much of the birch - good specimen by the 16th tee on the Red.
